Freestyle Motocross

Saturday - 7:30pm
A Thriller in Volunteer Country!
What do you do when it's the finals, the rider just before you tossed a sick run, and you gotta go next? Get Sicker!! The Toyota Tundra Final saw Jason Rowe roll out first with the title belt and score a 90. Shawn Connors came out in a suit looking sharp (as my grandmother would say) and nailed a great run that got him 90.5 from the judges and a rest in the Toyota Hot Seat. Next up, Casey Higgins and his fire breathing four stroke. Breathing fire is not good and can indicate a rich running condition, which bit him pretty bad as his bike burped on the take off nearly making him come up short. Casey soldiered on though to take the lead with a 90.75. Brody Wilson, who has won before against flippers without flipping, came out hard and used his great extension and combos, oh and a flip to again put a new leader in the hotseat scoring a rock solid 93 points. However, it was not enough as the Ladies Choice, JJ Romans threw down four flips to the crowds approval and winning over the judges with to beat Brody by a half point.

The Head 2 Head once again saw JJ squaring off with Jason Rowe and former Vol, Doug Cossey. The three lined up in a train and JJ popped a flip, giving him the win in the crowd judged event. Geoff Aaron used his Redbull Moto-Playground to amaze the fans and me aboard his Honda powered Montesa. Every show he does something different and the 10 time AMA National Trials champ reacted to the loud crowd to do some very interesting and difficult tricks. The Urias Family brought in the Sphere of Fear or Globe of Death- I just call it nuts and put not one, not two but THREE bikes and riders inside! Falling in there would be a mess, but they rocked it as usual and the fourth generation entertainers will live to ride again. I have the next two weeks off to do yard work, but that does not mean there aren't shows going on. Check the schedule and check Coast to Coast on this site. I will be answering questions from you about anything FMX! Just send them in by going to the column.
