The old Tacoma Dome had to wait two years to get FMX
and they were more than ready for it! A huge building allowed us to do a couple
of different things for the rabid fans of Tacoma, and the riders did not disappoint
either. The Ogio.com Best Whip contest made its return tonight with four riders
trying to beat the others and impress the judges- the fans! The last two riders
in the hunt were Nick Dunn, making his first IFMA show for 2008, and Derek Burlew
the O.G. Nick got it sideways which the crowd seemed to like, but that was until
Derek came out and got it flat as a pancake which the crowd loved even more. He
took the win on his Ogio Yamaha and was super pumped by the judge's reaction.
Next
up was something we never get to do and that was the Torco Racing Fuel Dash on
the Gas! Four riders, four laps on a flat oval with nice slick concrete greeted
the riders on the line. Brian Foster got the holeshot over Jimmie McGuire, Dustin
Nowak and Andy Morgan. After a lap, McGuire took the inside line away from Foster
who never gave up and was just waiting for the opportunity to take the lead again.
McGuire did just that on the last lap- a costly mental lapse that allowed Foster
to regain the top spot which he defended to the end for the win.
Five riders
made it into the DoSomethingAmazing.com presented by the U.S. Air Force. The Wacker-
Dustin Nowak got in to the Toyota Hotseat with a score of 90 taking away the Toyota
Hotseat from Graham Gustin who had a 87.5 score. Derek Burlew, fresh off his whip
win could only garner an 88.3 and was sent packing. Brian Foster had a smooth
run with some healthy old school tricks but his 89 was not enough to whack the
Wacker. Last out was the Young One, Jesse Jolson, who had to beat two flips to
get into the Toyota Hotseat and grab the trophy. A flawless run, with heart stopping
extension and hang time was just enough to put him over the top as his 90.3 gave
him the win.
Hell on Wheels BMX Stunt Team brought out four guys including
Dave Voelker who wowed the crowd and Cody Webb also did some different freestyle
on his moto-trials machine showing the crowd something new.
There are still
some great tickets for tomorrow night but they are selling fast and don't forget
the pit party which is your chance to get up and close with the riders. See you
tomorrow!

Saturday - 7:30pm
Tonight was
without a doubt the loudest, rowdiest crowd I have had so far in 2008! They were
on their feet, clapping their hands and waving their checker flags for all the
riders as they gapped seventy feet! The riders all responded with big tricks and
stylish air and the competition was close in the final.
In the DoSomeThingAmazing.com
FMX Final presented by the U.S. Air Force saw the win go the high flying Dustin
"Wacker" Nowak. It wasn't easy though as four other riders tried to
take away the goods and spend their own time in the Toyota Hotseat. Nick Dunn
went out first and had some bike issues but still mustered an 84 from the judges
in his first final of 2008- in only his second night on the tour! Derek Burlew
scored 89 even with some nice tricks to knock Dunn off the seat. Jimmy McGuire,
Mr. Smooth to you- had his best run of 2008 and you could tell it was the crowd
that got him pumped enough to wrest the Toyota Hotseat away with an 89.5 from
the judging panel. Next out was Dustin Nowak. He finished second last night, but
found that the cure to his cold was just a party away and he came on strong ripping
a few combo flips to score a 92. Only one rider was left and that was last night's
winner, the Young One, Jesse Jolson. Jesse also threw some huge flip variations
but came up dangerously short on his last one barely saving it on the way down.
He came up a little short in the points department too finishing with a 91.3 score,
handing the trophy to the Wacker.
Hell on Wheels had the fans screaming
for more while pulling off big air and fantastic tail whips on their BMX machines
and showing that the kids aren't the only ones having all the fun. They got into
the action with Cody Webb too as he bunny hopped his moto-trials machine over
all four of them!
The Torco Race Fuels Dash for the Gas saw a repeat win
for Brian Foster who had some competition from McGuire and Graham Gustin until
Gustin tangled with Mr. Smooth and went down. In the Ogio.com Best Whip contest.
Derek Burlew sent the kid Nick Dunn to the showers with a huge flat and tweaked
whip.
The riders wanted me to thank the awesome fans in Tacoma and it's
not too late so find a Freestyle show near you and knock Tacoma off the top of
the heap. See you there!
