Freestyle Motocross

Friday - 7:30 PM

This was a great night here in Richmond, The crowd was amazing and the riders performed accordingly.  Making the Toyota Tundra Finals we saw Dustin Nowak, Jesse Jolson, Jimmie Mcguire, Derek Burlew, and Brian Foster all qualify out of the nine riders here tonight.  Before we would unleash these five to aim for the win, we would have to bring the BMX stunt team from Eastern Action Sports.  They came out and killed it!  With a chanting crowd wanting a flip, they got what they asked for.  Backflip, after backflip, and a front to finish it off!  The Richmond, Va crowd was engaged.  Locked and loaded we would establish a solid ground for Trials master Keith Wineland to come out and keep the feet off the ground, and on the bike.  He did just that.  And for the first time that I had ever witnessed he hopped from the FMX landing to the opposite side FMX takeoff!  It was simply unbelievable.  I was speechless, which is rare, but the crowd was for sure not, as they roared so load they shook the Richmond Coliseum.  In the Hardees Head to Head competition it would be narrowed down to Derek Berlew, Jesse Jolson, and Jimmie Mcquire.  Derek whipped out a nasty turn-down whip, for Jolson it was Cowboy style with a rodeo air, and Mcquire nailed his infamous Christ Air.  In the end it was the Christ air that would win the southern crowd, As the Head to Head winner is determined by the road of the crowd.  And Jimmie rocked the house!  It was trial time and the test of the true champ.  With 80 seconds this time the final five would have to let it all go.  It was Whacker taking the seat first with a 90.0.  He had the flips, but two missed tricks.  That would for sure cost him.  Derek Burlew knocked him right out with a 93.0 and did not need the flip.  Next out Jimmie Mac came out and ripped a close to perfect run, far from perfect, but perfect from afar.  With a 94.5 Jimmie had moved into the cozy seat.  He was happy for a minute, but would sweat as young gun Jesse Jolson made his move.   Jesse had a flawless run, well at least as flawless as you can humanly get.  He scored a 96.0!! And took the seat from Jimmie.  With one rider left who had a chance, it was Brian Foster’s time to shine or go home.  He came out and nailed every trick and it was close.  But with a 95.0 it would not be enough to take the win from Jolson.  Way to go Jesse.  We will see how tomorrow shapes up.  I will let ya know.

Saturday - 7:30 PM

Tonight was for sure a homerun here in Richmond, VA.  The crowd was twice as intense inside, which was good for all of the riders.  As the snow was falling when we arrived we would soon be warmed by the heat of the Virginia crowd.  Making the finals tonight would be the same five.  But in a different order.  Derek Burlew took the fifth place slot, followed by Brian Foster, Jimmie Mcquire, Dustin Nowak and last night winner Jesse Jolson.  The east coast BMX stunt team once again rocked the house with an intense run by all of their riders.  One of the riders slammed the wooded ramp so hard he literally put his big size 11 through the landing, which would cause a problem for the expected front flip, or would it?  The crowd insisted and the east coast team replied, and gave it to them.  The crowd was all in frenzy as all the FMX riders watched on.  Boom bada bing!  Front flip completed.  In the trials Keith came out and stuck his run with all the usual and them some.  His finished with a splatter, and a standing ovation! In the finals it was Burlew out first who put in a respectable 89.0.  Following right after was teammate and friend Brian Foster, but there would be no holding back in the finals.  Foster came out and ripped across the arena, as his MotoX racing skills came in to play and allotted him time to get in an extra trick, with a 90.5 we would sweep the rug from under roomies feet with a 90.5.  Next out was Jimmie Mcquire, Jimmie had a great run going with 2 seconds left and his chance to seal the deal, he would miss his infamous “Christ air”  upset, he shrugged and knew it would not be enough to take out Foster.  Next out was Dustin Nowak “Whacker” and this tonight he came out with a vengeance, with missed tricks last night he would not miss any tonight and started his run with a Flip?! And followed with several other variations, when I asked him what changed his game he simply said “I never flip the first hit, but this crowd was so loud I just could not resist”  So with a 91.5 he would take the seat and leave the door open for one last rider, last nights winner Jesse Jolson.  Jesse came out and had a solid run with multiple trick variations, no repeat tricks, and huge extension on all of his tricks!  With a score of a 91.0 he would not win and would have to settle for second tonight.  Nowak won, hands down and that was all she wrote!  Thanks to all the crew, and support from our sponsors, and most importantly you the fans!   See you soon in a city near you.

Peace out,

Will “Sharpie”
