Wilson Sets the Bar in Baton Rouge

An intimate and enthusiastic crowd came in to see Freestyle Motocross Presented by Your Local Louisiana Toyota Dealers on friday night. The FMX Final saw tight scores between the five finalists. The top three were even closer between Shawn Connors, JJ Romans and Brody Wilson. Shawn popped into the hotseat with a 91.3 which knocked out Derek Cook who is getting into a groove and making the finals. JJ Romans upped the ante by a tenth and scored a 91.4 with some backflips and crowd support. Last out was Brody Wilson. The Quiet One let his riding do the talking and man was it screaming at the fans and the judges. Flips alone were not going to garner the win so he tossed in a sideshow, and used killer extension on the rest of his tricks to score a 91.6! The top three were just three tenths apart!

The Dosomethingamazing.com Head 2 Head competition saw the crowd do the judging and they whittled down a field of six to only three. Derek "Double Down" Cook, Brody Wilson and the Redneck Shawn Connors went into a three rider best trick train. Wilson topped the others with a flip which the crowd narrowly used as the reason for his win.

I got to join up with freewheeling Keith Wineland and his Extreme Riding Entertainment Moto Trials machine for a jaw dropping display of rider skill and bike control. The Hell On Wheels BMX Stunt Team, known world wide for their antics on and off the bikes, did back flips, tail whips and front flips much to the crowds delight!

We have one more show for you Baton Rouge- and we expect to see a crowd even louder than tonight's rowdy bunch!

Saturday - 7:30 PM

The French Settled Baton Rouge- Romans Conquered It!

A bigger, rowdier crowd greeted us in Baton Rouge Saturday evening and the riders responded with their A-Games. The Louisiana Toyota Dealers FMX Final saw some great riding and all five finalists were separated by only four points! Derek "Double Down" Cook pulled fifth with a solid run as he gets back into his groove after an injury riddled season last year. Fourth went to Chris Taylor who joined this tour from another and showed our regulars that he is bringing the heat with pop on all his tricks. His 89.4 was enough to beat Cook, but that was all. Shawn Connors, style guru for the FMX tour came out with some old school tricks like the McMetz and the Sterilizer. This impressed the judges and put him in the Toyota Tundra Hotseat with a solid nine-zero. Brody Wilson made a few very rare mistakes, which were only noticeable since he is always without flaw and could only muster a 91 which gave him second on the night. The spoils go to the victor and tonight it was JJ Romans turn. The Ladies Choice performed no less than four backflip variations and stuck the rest of his run nearly perfect to get the crowds attention and the judges too. He was awarded a 92.3 for the win!

The Dosomethingamazing.com U.S. Air Force Head 2 Head competition saw Derek Cook, Casey "Cool Hand" Higgins and Brody Wilson run the train and pop off their best tricks in this fan judged event. Higgins and Cook caught some spectacular air, but the crowd broke the sound meter for Brody Wilson who ringered with a flip.

Keith Wineland from EREOnline.com wowed us all with his mad skills on the moto-trials playground and the world travelers of the Hellonwheels.com BMX Stunt Team reacted to the audience cheers by giving up some tail whip flips and front flips as seen on TV.

We had a special guest on hand tonight in the form of Daytona Supercross winner Kevin Windham came out to give some love to his hometown fans. You can watch him, and Chad Reed battle it out on the road to the Supercross Finals in Las Vegas by watching them on Speed- or you could just get registered for Inside Dirt and find out how to get there. Just go to www.freestylemotocrossonline.com to get involved and check out Coast to Coast while you are there where you can ask questions of me or the riders and get a personal response just like Phil P. from Niagara Falls. Phil, your question will be answered this week in Coast to Coast!
