Macon, GA :: 2/16-17/07

Freestyle Motocross

Friday - 7:30 PM

The FMX crew put on a great sold out show for Macon Ga. The crowd was great and behind the riders all the way. There were nine riders fighting to make it into the Mid State RV Center finals. Slade Waltman, Shawn Nielsen, Javier Villegas and Thomas Alves were the men that were to move into the finals with Javier leading the way. Geoff Aaron came ripping out on his Honda Montessa four stroke trials bike. Geoff amazed the crowd with his twelve foot splatter finale on to the ERE rig. Continuing the action into the second part of the show was Mighty Mike on the Mike banging out a performance from Hell on Wheels BMX team with the Amazing Augie Samisedo nailing his monster front flip even after taking a pretty hard digger on an earlier trick attempt. Slade Waltman kicked off the finals with a run that was prime to take the MidStates RV Center Hot seat with huge extensions on his Rock Solids, KOD’s and 9 o clock NAc’s. Shawn Nielsen had plenty of technical style in his run and was tossing strippers bigger than the ones in the Playa’s Club – yeah yeah. Thomas Alves proved that he was a bit too sexy though for the finals as he nailed a run with 4 big flip variations including a Nac Flip, Whip Flip, one handed flip, and a no footed flip to go along with a nice Cliffhanger but he would leave the door open for top qualifier Javier Villegas with a Rock Solid not quite up to standards. Javier capped off his night with an incredible switch handed 1 Hand seat grab, nice extended stripper, and a cliffhanger with the usual Chilean flair that comes with Javier Villegas’ run. At the end of the night Javier would come up a bit short with a 92.4 and would give way to Thomas Alves’ 93.5 and Thomas would walk away the victor. Well Macon – it was a grand evening, although Baxter and I have many leather bound books to read and a couple of cheese wheels to finish off we shall be back tomorrow for another exciting night of FMX competition! You stay classy Macon! Nick.

Saturday - 7:30 PM
What a great night in Macon. All the riders were excited and felt the pressure from another sold out crowd. This must have been just what the boys needed cause man did they step it up and rock the house. Thousands of people cheered as each of the nine riders gave there best in an attempt to make it into the Mid State RV Center finals. Trevor Wilder was the first rider of the evening and pulled in a great score of 88.5, but as the night continued he and Slade Waltman with an 88.7 would just miss the finals. The four well deserving finalists would be Scott Hanlin, Sean Nielsen, Thomas Alves, and Javier Villegas. Throughout the show we were all entertained by the hell on wheels crew on their BMX bikes. To top off their segment one of the riders pulled a 360 over the announcer’s head. Then it was Geoff Aaron’s turn to show the crowd what Observed Trials is all about, riding his new Honda Montessa Geoff blasted over impossible obstacles amazing the crowd time and time again. The sold out crowd was cheering and the finalists were ready. The first rider out was Scott Hanlin pulling down a great rock solid and ending with a 91.8. The second rider out was Sean Nielsen who incorporated a little used trick called the sideshow into his run and finishing with a 92.0. Thomas Alves was next at the gate with a run consisting of a big cliffhanger and 4 flip variations. With Thomas holding the new high score Javier Villegas had to have an amazing run and he did just that. First hit was a flip and it only got crazier from there. Javier walked away as the victor with a 94.2 run. All and all Macon was a great time and the whole FMX crew looks forward to the next time we visit.

You know I don’t speak Spanish Baxter and I’m thankful for that 21 million in endorsements this year! Sweet 8 pound 2 ounce Baby Jesus.
