What an awesome night here in Tupelo, MS!  Tupelo is the birthplace of Elvis and the town where he was raised until he was 13.  So let’s just say this town is Elvis crazy.  After visiting the house that the “King” was born in I was moved.  Even old Sharpie can be touched sometimes too.  So that is when I decided to get in the groove and dress up as Elvis.  The Elvis crazed town loved it, but I got to tell you that is one hot get up.  I was burning up in the Elvis suit.

Starting off in the qualifying runs it was Greg Hartman, Jason Rowe, Gabriel Villegas, and Javier Villegas making the final cut.  In the Extreme Moto Trials it was Spanish Champion David Chavez making it happen.  He was throwing down like Charlie Brown, baby.  Coming back from intermission it was Jennifer Schneider the human cannonball blasting out of the cannon and launching 115 feet across the arena floor!  In the Team Competition it was about the Villegas brothers.  The South American brothers destroyed the competition.  Hey, when you ask for a bean you get the whole burrito baby.

In the FMX finals it Gabriel Villegas out first.  He had a solid run with a whole lot of real technical tricks.  He would score a 92 and be the first rider in the US Air Force Hot Seat.  Next out was Greg Hartman.  Greg stole the show with huge extensions with every trick.  He posted a solid 92.25 and would take the USAF Hot Seat from Gabriel.  Next out was Jason Rowe and with all of his family in the house we all knew he was hungry for a win.  He cranked out a solid run and even threw a 1-Handed Indy to a Rock Solid.  Jason scored a well deserved 92.75 and would take the USAF Hot Seat.  Last out was Javier Villegas and was looking for yet another win.  He nailed his tricks and rode solid but just could not match the extension and style of Jason Rowe.  Jason was for sure dialed in tonight and would take the Friday night win.  I will let you know how tomorrow night shapes up.  The band “It Starts Today” is here and we are going to tear it up!

Peace,
Elvis (AKA: Sharpie)

Saturday - 8:00 PM

Tupelo, MS
April 1, 2006, Saturday night
BanCorpSouthCenter

Night two of competition was off the hook! It was the last stop of the tour and the “boys of metal” made it known there was no holding back tonight. Making the FMX Finals was Greg Hartman, Gabriel Villegas, Jason Rowe, and Javier Villegas. But first in the Extreme MotoTrials it was the Spanish Champ stealing the show with his Dexterity and precision bike handling skills. The crowd was for sure into it.

Back from intermission we would be blown away by the lovely Cannonlady, Jennifer Schneider, once again. Except after this shot we would be heartbroken by her emotional interview. Jennifer was the first one on tour to break down in tears as this would be the last time we would all be together on tour in “2006”.

In the Big Trick Tourney it was Clint Espisito and Gabriel Villegas battling it out in the end. Clint would stick a Shaolin to a No Handed Lander and Mississippi went bezerk! Next out was Gabriel “ Las Vegas” Villegas and he threw down a huge “G-force” which is his signature trick. In the end the South American would take the win. Way to go “ Las Vegas!”

In the FMX Finals it was Greg Hartman out first. He was on fire! He was looking like a true Dew Tour kinda guy, and I can tell you that he is a future name to be reckoned with. He posted a clean 92.75 and took the US Air Force Hot Seat. Next out was Gabriel and he stole the show with his “G-Force” trick. He took the seat from Greg by scoring a 93!! Jason Rowe was out next and he pimped his run with a new style that only comes from “Chi-Town”. But with a 92.75 he would not take the seat from Gabriel. So it was a re-run of a River Runs Through it. Big brother against little brother...who would be tougher?! At this point Familia did not matter. Big brother came out to take little brother out and he did just that. With a 93.25 Javier Villegas would take the win!

Awesome shows in Tupelo… Elvis would be proud!!

Peace,
Sharpie.
