Freestyle Motocross

January 20-21, 2006

Friday 8:00 PM-

Rapid City, SD
Jan. 20, 2006
Rushmore Plaza Civic Center

It was the night to shine in Rapid City South Dakota.

All the "big dogs" of the ramp it up tour were here.

Rapid City near the famous Black Hills, we’re digging for Gold...  And they would find it! The Four riders to make the Finals in a solid gold fashion would be Slade Waltman, Greg Hartman, Jason Rowe, and Browdy Wilson.

In the trials, once again we were fortunate to have Mr. Geoff Aaron here at Mt. Rushmore Arena.  I was fortunate to ride here with Geoff and his beautiful fiancée, Carrie, and learned everything I ever wanted to know about MotoTrials.  He came out and as always, killed it!!  After watching his balancing act videos on the ride up, only then, did I truly understand what this guy can do on his Gas Trial machine.  He is amazing!

After Geoff, it was CannonLady time and Jennifer Shcneider blew Rushmore Plaza Civic Center to gold dust.  Let’s just say the crowd had a gold glow of the rare dust, after her launch!

Time for the finals…Who had gold?  Or who had fools gold? It was Slade Waltman first out of the gate.
Slade had a great run, in fact the best I've seen from him all year long, he would take the Hot Seat with a 92.25.  Next out of the gate was, Greg Hartman.  The "Hit Man" had his scope set on Mr. Nasty.  With the target in site he knew what he had to do to take the Hot Seat from Slade... would he have what it takes, to take out Mr. Nasty?  The answer, NO!  For the first time, in at least a year, Greg missed a trick; he was not in typical style.  It would not be enough and Slade still held onto the lead!

Did somebody say Chi-Town "?"  Jason came out looking like fools gold, but ended up cashing in.

With a BIG, sick, KOD and Look back Helicopter, I knew he was on top form.  He dethroned Slade with a 94.75... But would it be enough?

One rider left, and his name was Brody Wilson.  Brody came out with a combination of big tricks.  He had the SideWinder, he had the McMetz, and he had the look back Hart-attack.  As the crowd roared "Ninja, Ninja" it would be close... but a 94.5 didn't quite make it and it would be "Chi-Town" Jason Rowe taking the win!!
Night two of competition tomorrow night... I will let you know how it shapes up.
Peace,
Sharpie

Rushmore Plaza Civic Center
Rapid City, SD
IFMA RAMP-IT-UP

This tour is simply amazing!  Another packed house witnessed a showdown of freestyle motocross competition here tonight.  With local Rapid City rider Ryan Logan stepping it up in the Big Trick Tourney and the FMX competition coming down to the wire for the overall winner… the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center was simply off the hook!

All the riders performed well in the qualifiers, but only the top 4 moved on to the Finals… and tonight it would be Slade Waltman, Brody Wilson, Greg Hartman and Jason Rowe making the cut.

In the meantime, the show clicked right along with MotoTrials legend, Geoff Aaron simply amazing them and the Cannonlady, Jennifer Schneider, blowing the crowd away with her picture perfect flight!

In the Finals, all four of the riders rode their personal best runs of the year.  Waltman first held the Hotseat, only to be ousted by Brody Wilson’s nearly perfect run of 95.25.  Hartman would have to be perfect to get his chance at the win… almost… he posted a 94.75!  Wilson held on for now, but “Chi-town” Rowe had been killing it all weekend… so the stage was set.  Rowe put together a beautiful run, attacking the tight course at every opportunity, but in the end his 95.0 got him second!  Brody Wilson held on for his third IFMA win of the year and his young career.

Great job Ninja!

Peace,

Sharpie
