Hamilton Ontario Gets Rowdy For FMX

What a great way to close out the season. Canada welcomed us with open arms and the fans were very enthusiastic. Jadd Knox kicked things off, but had a couple of issues and was only able to post a 65. Scott Hanlin came out next and toughed out his run after a nasty spill in practice earlier in the day. He set the bar for the finals with an 85. Local rider James Verschuuren had a case of nerves get the better of him and was only able to post a 60, which would not get him to the finals. Ryan Logan stepped in next and had a solid run to post an 82. Rob Shaheen the Ontario native used the home crowd to ride to a spot in the finals with an 87.

Keith Wineland came out on his trials bike during the break and thrilled the crowd with a dynamic display of balance and stamina. He hucked a big bunny hop over crew man “Stoney” that worked the crowd into a lather.

Casey Higgins came out first in our second set and ran well, but didn’t quite have enough to make the finals, finishing with an 84. Derek Cook blasted straight out of the tunnel and put together a fine run to easily qualify for the next round with an 88. Dan Newth didn’t waste anytime in his run, nailing his back flip and advancing with a 90. The final rider out was JJ Romans who also flipped his way into the finals posting an 89.5.

Coming out of our intermission we went right at it in head to head. All six riders ran well but the crowd gave the win to Rob Shaheen. It sure doesn’t hurt to be the local favorite in the crowd judged contests.

X Dreams BMX came out next and put on a great display of pedal power. They went hard the entire 10 minutes even though that were pedaling over the tuff.

For the finals Scott Hanlin was able to spend some extra time in the West49 Hot seat with his 84 because Rob Shaheen came up a little short with an 83. Derek Cook had the “Wild Bunch” that was stage right in his corner and he rode the momentum to an 88.7 to take over the West49 Hot Seat. JJ Romans came out next and put together one of his best runs all year to score 91.5. The last rider with a chance to unseat him was Dan Newth, but Dan had a little trouble with his flip levers and was only able to manage an 89.5 giving Romans the victory.

We had a great time here in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and look forward to coming back. Check freestylemotocrossonline.com web site for the next tour stop near you!
